Just walk 4 blocks north to the People Mover (monorail system) you can ride to the Renaissance center station close to the Hertz facility. Cost .50 cents. On another note, if traveling into Detroit by bus consider other options than Greyhound for better & faster service. Megabus has great low cost bus service to Detroit from many midwestern locations including Chicago. Indian Trails also provides regional bus service to Detroit from several Michigan destinations. Even Amtrak has good service to Detroit from Chicago with connecting service from everywhere. Seriously, avoid Greyhound right now, their service has become the pits. Good luck!

Yeah, it's impossible to get to your destination from the bus station without riding more than one bus. I recommend you take a cab there as well. However, it you did want to ride the bus (which would be your only other alternative in a transit-depressed region), you will have to make a quick stroll across the Lodge Expresssway to the other side of the old MGM Grand Casino at 3rd Ave. and Abbott St., hop on the Route 34 Gratiot DDOT Bus that reads Eastland or Eight Mile, then ask the operator could he let you off at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Building and have him/her show you where the Route 25 Jefferson DDOT Bus picks up at. Fare is $1.50 one-way trip for riders that are taller than 48 inches and under 65 Years Old and .75 cents for Seniors with a proper I.D. card. You will need a transfer as well, that will cost you an extra .25 cents to the regular fare. Tell him that you're going Eastbound on the Jefferson Route. It's important, a DDOT (Detroit Department of Transportation) bus is Green, White and Yellow. Don;t confuse it with a Red, Black, and White bus. This service is the Suburban Mobility Authority of Regional Transportation (or SMART). They only service riders whose destination is in the suburban cities of Detroit (in other words, they won't let you off for nothing within Detroit City limits). Then, once you're on the Route 25 Jefferson DDOT bus heading Eastbound that reads Wayburn Loop, when you see your destination, pull the string and the operator will let you off at the bus stop. You could ask the Jefferson operator where the Hertz Car Rental Dealer is at, but many aren't even sure. It would be best if you broght your map along.
